Thanlyin

Thabarwa Meditation Centre

Thanlyin, a city located across the Bago River from Yangon, is home to the Thabarwa Meditation Centre. Once a historic port, Thanlyin now serves as a peaceful retreat where spiritual practice and compassionate service come together. At Thabarwa, monks, nuns, volunteers, and laypeople live side by side, creating a unique community dedicated to meditation, charity, and caring for those in need.

Rainbow Hospital

Thabarwa Rainbow Hospital is more than just a medical clinic—it’s a living embodiment of Thabarwa’s mission. It provides critical healthcare free of charge to a vulnerable community, staffed and supported by volunteers, and connected to a wider ecosystem of meditation, shelter, and compassion.

Dhamma Talk

Every evening, when Sayadaw is present at Thabarwa, he delivers a Dhamma Talk to the residents—a moment of reflection, teaching, and spiritual connection that brings the community together in mindfulness and peace.

Earthship Workshop – Building in Progress

Demonstration building is taking shape during the ongoing Earthship-style workshop at Thabarwa Meditation Centre, Thanlyin. Using glass bottles, aluminum cans, used tires (rammed earth walls), and earthen plaster (adobe), this structure highlights how sustainable architecture can meet real community needs.

In the way to Zarmani Inn Dam

The partly cloudy sky erupted in fiery colors, painting the clouds with brilliant reds and golds. It was a sunrise worth every step.
